I would like to inform you that most unfortunately we have now experienced our first confirmed case of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) reported on one of our construction sites earlier this week and affecting a member of our subcontracted workforce.
Firstly, I would like to wholly congratulate and commend the team involved in dealing with this incident in such a calm and considered manner, and for taking all the necessary action to keep all those on their site as safe and well as possible.
In light of this news I would strongly impress upon you all that this is certainly not a reflection on the excellent operating procedures and exemplary health and safety standards we are all working to nor the performance of the site team, and was inevitably only a matter of time before we were to encounter the virus within the business, particularly given our size and with productivity so impressively back to pre-COVID times with the consequence of an increase in numbers on our sites growing considerably.
Nonetheless this will no doubt serve as a strong reminder that the virus is still prevalent and we must do everything within our power to minimise the occurrence of further outbreaks. Complacency is not an option and as such we are issuing the attached updated ‘Safe Working Guidelines’ to refresh everyone’s memories of the importance of following the ongoing safety and hygiene guidance and how important it remains to observe social distancing ruling, all as simple steps we can take to keep you all safe.
Alongside this is our ‘Confirmed Case Protocol’ offering the support and guidance should you encounter this scenario by outlining the actions that you must take in the event of a confirmed case on your own site or within your department. Please ensure both documents are read thoroughly, shared with your wider team and displayed prominently on your floor so that everyone is aware of their role and responsibilities.
The Jenner COVID-19 taskforce will continue to liaise in the coming days and weeks to determine whether further safety measures need to be implemented and how we can continue to keep our sites safe working environments for you all. Further guidance will be offered within this weeks ‘Friday Update’ and I do encourage you to continue to read this. If you have any concerns in light of this news please do not hesitate to discuss this with your line manager, your departmental director or myself.
Thank you all for your ongoing hard work and dedication in managing this unfortunate and challenging situation; your efforts are very much appreciated.
