Good evening to you all.
Incredible though it seems, another month has flown by as we enter into June and rapidly approach the halfway point of the calendar year. I do hope you have all enjoyed the long bank holiday weekend and that it has given you time to rest, relax and make the most of the fine weather. I was certainly appreciative that the summer decided to (finally) make an appearance for yesterday’s Folkestone Coastal 10k run which was glorious in the sunshine along the seafront and which Jenner were a sponsor of for the first time this year, continuing our proactive support of the local community. The event was a sell-out with over 700 runners of all abilities pounding the pavements and was exceptionally well-managed and gave great exposure to the Jenner brand with so many participants passing by our site on the seafront too, and which looked incredibly impressive in all its grandeur.
Following our decision earlier this month to amend our ruling on the mandatory wearing of face coverings within the office and out on site, I would politely and respectfully remind you all, with recent reports of a potential third-wave on the horizon caused by the prevalence of the Indian variant, that we are certainly not out of the woods just yet and would urge you to continue to exercise a degree of caution in your actions and a common sense approach as to when you should wear a mask. The guidance from the Construction Leadership Council remains unchanged and so, particularly out on site, if you are working for a prolonged period alongside others in a confined or unventilated area you must wear a mask on these occasions. The COVID-19 taskforce met again this month to further assess our enhanced safety procedures and determined that at this time it was essential for front-line temperature testing to remain in place alongside monthly fogging of Century House. We will meet again next month following further governmental directive expected mid-June and will offer further advice thereafter. In the meantime please do keep up the voluntary self-testing, reporting your results back to Emily Barnes and of course please continue to follow our guidance at this time. Your patience and cooperation remains very much appreciated and the Directors and I are on hand to address any concerns you may have.
All the latest news this month is summarised in the newsletter attached, which is packed with positivity and good news stories, both people and project-focused. I was personally delighted to have opportunity to conclude the month with a visit to our Sussex teams at Amberstone Road, Amberstone Nurseries and Sussex Plants and received a very warm welcome from all those on site which was greatly appreciated. I was incredibly proud to view the excellent quality and remarkable progress that has been made on these projects, and was very impressed with the exceptionally strong start by David Cahill and the team at Sussex Plants with an immense amount of progress made in recent weeks. The Directors and I are all committed to making more regular visits to site to fully support you all at what remains a highly challenging time for the construction industry and I look forward to seeing more of you next month.
That’s all from me this time other than to wish you all well for the month ahead. Please do keep up the great work and enthusiasm that clearly exists throughout the business and which certainly does not go unnoticed.
Kind regards
Martin Sandall
