Good afternoon to you all.
Firstly, I must apologise this month for the delay in writing to you, caused by my travels to find some long overdue winter sunshine. Having reacclimatised and caught up on at least some of the backlog, it is a pleasure to share last month’s (February) news from across the business with you all. It would certainly appear it was yet another incredibly busy month, and March looks set to continue that trend.
I hope you will have now received and digested our latest COVID-19 guidance following the easing of restrictions at the end of February, which I do hope provides greater clarity amidst continuingly ambiguous governmental guidance, and a clearer understanding of our perspective as a business and how we intend to operate from here onwards. Quite simply, a pragmatic common-sense approach is essential to ensure we continue to regain the levels of normality and productivity that we have been working so hard to achieve, whilst avoiding any unnecessary spread of infection and ultimately the need for any past restrictions to be reimposed. If you do have any questions regarding the guidelines, please do raise this with your Line Manager or a member of the COVID-19 taskforce.
Just as we allow ourselves a moment to breathe, hoping we might have turned a corner almost two years to the day that the global pandemic was confirmed, we are now witnessing incredibly harrowing scenes of mass devastation across the European borders in Ukraine. The war that has so swiftly taken hold has followed in a similar manner that transitioned us from Brexit to COVID in such quick succession and it does leave you wondering ‘what next’? If, like me, you watch media coverage with a degree of trepidation and sadness as the uncontrollable warfare unfolds with more and more innocent lives lost, you may too be considering how you can play your part in helping others directly affected by the war. Whilst little can be done to overcome the extreme adversity, small acts of kindness can make all the difference as life becomes unimaginably challenging for those who do survive the onslaught with homes lost and even the most basic of provisions unavailable. With this in mind we have engaged with a local initiative who are providing some relief through the donation of essential provisions that will be transported across Europe to reach those in need. Please do read more within the attached newsletter with all donations being collected by Aimee on reception, and if you would like to learn more about this please speak to Ella. If you would like to go one step further I am sure you are aware of the government initiative to rehome Ukrainian refugees fleeing for their safety, and you can find out more about how you can safely help in this manner via this link https://homesforukraine.campaign.gov.uk/
Without any disregard to the devastation caused to civilians, we cannot overlook the alarming fact that with conflict soon follows economic decline and mass impact upon global trading and our society as a whole. With energy, materials, freight and labour all adversely affected in terms of cost and availability, and the imposition of further and far reaching sanctions upon Russia, resources usually so freely available to us continue to fall short of exponential demand. Both personally and in business we must adjust and brace ourselves for the challenges that lie ahead and the affect these shortages will have upon our existing projects as well as the longer term impact on client confidence to build. Nonetheless, and as I have said on many occasions we are incredibly strong team, well-positioned as a business and we will do everything within our power to continue to forge ahead.
Ending on a rather lighter note, please do take a look at the attached newsletter which showcases many good news stories from across Team Jenner, which I hope will go some way to maintain morale and ensure as positive an outlook as possible at this time. And with the clocks springing forward at the end of the month, we have longer daylight hours and hopefully a continuation of this week’s spring sunshine to be thankful for, which will indeed be good for the soul.
Do stay well, stay positive and remember that myself and my co-Directors are on hand to discuss any concerns or anxieties you may have at this time.
Kind regards, Martin Sandall
