Good evening to you all.
With the perceived worst month of the year, host to the infamous ‘Blue Monday’ thankfully behind us, I hope we all feel energised and prepared to forge ahead into the Spring months that promise us some warmer weather, and with renewed enthusiasm as restrictions continue to ease and allow us to edge towards life as we once knew it. As you will note from the delay in writing to you all this time around (I do apologise for those of you who have been eagerly awaiting the latest news), it has been an incredibly busy start to the year and which I hope we can view as a positive sign that better times are on the horizon.
Whilst overall construction output across the UK fell by 1% in the final quarters of 2021 Jenner are well-placed to continue to capitalise on future opportunity and remain optimistic as productivity remains robust despite the ongoing material cost increases and transportation delays that threaten to hamper our progress in the aftermath of both BREXIT and COVID. Outlook in the market ultimately remains buoyant as the clients and consultants bringing work forwards report that they are incredibly busy and their confidence to invest sends a firm and positive message to us all. We remain focused on securing new projects from the exciting pipeline of opportunity we are fortunate to have created in what continues to be a highly competitive marketplace and urge you all to stay focused and not lose sight of the role each and every one of you plays in this regard by ensuring the strength of our reputation.
For those of you who do click-through to update on the latest news from Jenner in the attached newsletter, you will note a number of personal milestones have been celebrated this month including one of my own as I surpassed thirty years of service here at Jenner, (which LinkedIn helpfully reminded me of) and is an achievement I am very proud of. Never one to self-promote (and there is no need when you have a marketing team who do that for you!) but I would sincerely like to thank you all for your unrelenting support throughout this time, especially over the past 14 years as Managing Director, and for the strong team ethos that exists here at Jenner and the much-admired business we have created together. I very much look forward to what the future holds and the journey ahead.
That’s all from me for this month other than to encourage you all to please keep in touch, share your news and do continue to stay safe and well.
Kind regards,
Martin Sandall
