Good evening to you all.
It is most unfortunate to start this monthly update by talking about yet another unexpected challenge we have had to face. Just when we thought we could regroup following what will hopefully prove to be the worst of the COVID pandemic behind us and a slowing of the astronomic material cost increases we have been subjected to, we have been faced with yet more turmoil and disruption this time at the petrol pumps and which ominously looks set to continue for the foreseeable future. Whilst those amongst you with electric and hybrid vehicles will have been driving around with a huge sense of relief (and understandably perhaps even a small amount of satisfaction), the fuel shortages experienced over the past two weeks really has served as stark reminder, yet again, as to exactly how fragile our industry remains, and how utterly reliant we are on resources and provisions we so freely take for granted. If there is one thing we can be certain of at this time, it is the necessary acceptance of unpredictability and that we must all learn to expect the unexpected and recognise that life post-BREXIT and in the continuing aftermath of COVID is guaranteed to be ‘predictably unpredictable’.
I do hope you are all personally managing to cope with the fuel shortages and given the strong team spirit so prevalent throughout Jenner it goes without saying that you will undoubtedly have pulled together to overcome the difficulties placed upon us at this time. If you are fortunate to have an electric or hybrid vehicle please do consider helping those who find themselves without fuel and unable to travel. Thankfully, given the new ways of working we have become so accustomed to over the past year we are all now equipped with the ability to continue to work in a lateral way and on behalf of all the Directors I thank you all for the resilience you continue to show and concerted efforts made to keep the business moving forwards amidst challenging times such as these.
As we enter into October with Summer a seemingly distant memory and as we continue to race through the year, life seems to have become increasingly busier. As a business we are certainly feeling the intense pressure of materials and labour shortages alongside the escalating costs of these, which continue to cause delay to progress across all our sites and means we must proceed with diligence in our procurement and management and hope that these issues begin to settle before too long.
Please do take a moment to catch up on all the latest company news, as attached, which I do feel injects a degree of optimism and reminds us that we are weathering the storm well, forging ahead with new members of the team and are ultimately well placed for the future with the anticipation of continued success.
Thank you all for your ongoing positivity and dedication and please do continue to take care and stay well.
Kind regards Martin Sandall
